A Garden Children Actually Dig In

Our vegetable garden is not decoration. Children plant, water, weed, pick and then eat what they have grown, which teaches food cycles far better than a poster ever will. Alongside it, clearly marked bins mean sorting waste is something four-year-olds do without being asked. Caring for the environment sits inside the ordinary routine of the day rather than appearing once a year on a special date.

Berrinba families are welcome from 15 months right through to the kindy year.

A Short Drive, and Plenty of Room Once You’re Here

We are at 5 Trebeck Street in Browns Plains, a short drive from Berrinba. Alongside the garden, our outdoor areas are shaded and set up for climbing, riding and water play, and children move between inside and outside through the day. Doors open at 6am and close at 6pm, with parking on site.

Social Focus

The social part of our program is based on our philosophy of fostering empathy, compassion and grit in kids. Our centre is a secure, caring environment where children build confidence and discover a joy for learning.

Health & wellbeing

We use play, song and stories to develop essential skills and teach children about health, hygiene and self-care. This includes choosing and making healthy meals, bathing, dressing, hair care, toileting and toothbrushing.

Community

We build a sense of community by fostering friendships, providing support to families, and through family involvement. The kids engage with the community through local schools, aged-care centres and other activities.

Growth

Our centre helps children grow their kindness, empathy and emotional awareness and regulation. They gain real-life, hands-on experience, physical development such as balance and motor skills.

Sustainability

Young people play an important role in caring for the environment. Our vegetable garden teaches children about food cycles and choices, and marked bins help them learn about sustainable waste management.

Ms. Liesl – Centre Director

I am Liesl, the current director at Ancora Kids Browns Plains. I have been working in the centre for 5 years. My qualifications include: Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care

As director at Ancora Kids, I am passionate about creating holistic, nurturing environments where children feel empowered to explore, grow, and thrive. At the heart of our philosophy are the values of Empathy, Compassion, and GRIT—Growth, Resilience, Integrity, and Tenacity. I believe that when children are supported with love, respect, and opportunity, they demonstrate remarkable resilience, curiosity, and potential.
My teaching approach is inspired by a blend of Montessori and Steiner philosophies. I value providing hands-on, real-life learning experiences that build independence and practical skills, while also fostering creativity through play-based and imaginative exploration. I also embrace the importance of early exposure to STEAM learning and second language development as vital tools for the future.
I see families as a child’s first and most important teachers. Building strong, respectful partnerships with parents helps create a safe and connected learning environment, where every child feels a strong sense of belonging. My goal is to nurture children’s emotional, social, and cognitive development, supporting them in becoming confident, compassionate individuals ready for the next stage of their journey.

How far is the centre from Berrinba?

What do children actually do in the garden?

Plant seedlings, water, weed, harvest and help prepare what comes out of it. It ties directly into the kitchen, so children eat food they have grown.

Do you support families who speak little English?

Yes. We take the time to make sure enrolment paperwork, fees and daily communication are clearly understood, and we welcome an interpreter or family member at any meeting.

Can meals be adapted for our family's requirements?

Berrinba East State School is the local primary. Our school-readiness program prepares children for Prep entry rather than one specific school.

What will we pay per day?

Once the Child Care Subsidy is applied, most families land between $15 and $50 a day. Your Centrelink assessment decides where.

We have three children under six. Can they all attend?

Where rooms allow, yes. Give us all three ages and your preferred days when you enquire and we will tell you honestly what is available.

What time do you open and close?

6am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.
