The First Fortnight Matters More Than the First Day

Starting care is a bigger moment for most families than the enrolment form suggests. We handle it deliberately. Before the first full day your child visits with you, meets the educator who will settle them, and spends time in the room while you are still there. Some children are ready after two visits. Others need a fortnight of short days. We follow your child, not a timetable, and you hear from us during the day rather than wondering until pick-up.

Five Minutes Away, Which Helps More Than You’d Think

We are about five minutes from Heritage Park, at 5 Trebeck Street in Browns Plains. Being close matters on an ordinary day, and it matters a great deal on the ones where a child is unsettled or a hat has been forgotten. Our rooms open onto shaded outdoor areas, we are open 6am to 6pm, and there is parking on site.

Social Focus

The social part of our program is based on our philosophy of fostering empathy, compassion and grit in kids. Our centre is a secure, caring environment where children build confidence and discover a joy for learning.

Health & wellbeing

We use play, song and stories to develop essential skills and teach children about health, hygiene and self-care. This includes choosing and making healthy meals, bathing, dressing, hair care, toileting and toothbrushing.

Community

We build a sense of community by fostering friendships, providing support to families, and through family involvement. The kids engage with the community through local schools, aged-care centres and other activities.

Growth

Our centre helps children grow their kindness, empathy and emotional awareness and regulation. They gain real-life, hands-on experience, physical development such as balance and motor skills.

Sustainability

Young people play an important role in caring for the environment. Our vegetable garden teaches children about food cycles and choices, and marked bins help them learn about sustainable waste management.

Ms. Liesl – Centre Director

I am Liesl, the current director at Ancora Kids Browns Plains. I have been working in the centre for 5 years. My qualifications include: Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care

As director at Ancora Kids, I am passionate about creating holistic, nurturing environments where children feel empowered to explore, grow, and thrive. At the heart of our philosophy are the values of Empathy, Compassion, and GRIT—Growth, Resilience, Integrity, and Tenacity. I believe that when children are supported with love, respect, and opportunity, they demonstrate remarkable resilience, curiosity, and potential.
My teaching approach is inspired by a blend of Montessori and Steiner philosophies. I value providing hands-on, real-life learning experiences that build independence and practical skills, while also fostering creativity through play-based and imaginative exploration. I also embrace the importance of early exposure to STEAM learning and second language development as vital tools for the future.
I see families as a child’s first and most important teachers. Building strong, respectful partnerships with parents helps create a safe and connected learning environment, where every child feels a strong sense of belonging. My goal is to nurture children’s emotional, social, and cognitive development, supporting them in becoming confident, compassionate individuals ready for the next stage of their journey.

Choosing a daycare near Heritage Park is an important decision. Below are answers to some common questions parents ask:

Fees, Child Care Subsidy and attendance

How close is Ancora Kids to Heritage Park?

About five minutes, roughly 3km. It is the shortest trip of any suburb we serve, with parking on site.

How does settling in work?

Orientation visits come first, with you present, so your child meets their room and educators before the first full day. After that we build up at your child’s pace, and we contact you during the day rather than leaving you to guess.

What if my child is still unsettled after a few weeks?

We raise it with you rather than waiting to be asked, and we change the approach: a shorter day, a different key educator, a different arrival routine. Settling is not a test a child passes or fails.

Do you take children under two?

We take children from 15 months. Availability varies by room, so tell us your child’s age and the days you want and we will give you a straight answer.

Which schools do children from Heritage Park go on to?

Usually Yugumbir State School, Regents Park State School, Browns Plains State School or St Bernardine’s Catholic School, then Browns Plains State High School. Our kindy program prepares children for Prep at any of them.

What is the gap fee?

Most families pay between $15 and $50 per day once the Child Care Subsidy is applied, depending on your CCS percentage and approved hours from Centrelink.

What happens on a day my child is sick?

The session is charged as booked, and the day is recorded as an absence. Every family has up to 42 allowable absence days a year while remaining eligible for CCS. Please keep unwell children home; the illness policy protects every child in the room.

Is there parking available at the centre?

Yes, we provide on-site parking so drop-off and pick-up is quick and easy.
