Prep teachers notice the children who can manage themselves. Ours practise it daily: washing hands, brushing teeth, putting on their own shoes and hat, using the toilet independently, opening their own lunch container, serving their own food and clearing it away afterwards. None of it is taught as a lesson. It is built into the rhythm of the day through song, repetition and doing, until children stop needing an adult for it.

Open Early, Which Is What Makes the Trip Work

Ancora Kids is at 5 Trebeck Street in Browns Plains, west of Loganlea. Doors open at 6am and close at 6pm, which gives families with early starts room at both ends of the day. Rooms are grouped by age and open onto shaded outdoor areas, and there is parking on site.

Ms. Liesl – Centre Director

I am Liesl, the current director at Ancora Kids Browns Plains. I have been working in the centre for 5 years. My qualifications include: Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care

As director at Ancora Kids, I am passionate about creating holistic, nurturing environments where children feel empowered to explore, grow, and thrive. At the heart of our philosophy are the values of Empathy, Compassion, and GRIT—Growth, Resilience, Integrity, and Tenacity. I believe that when children are supported with love, respect, and opportunity, they demonstrate remarkable resilience, curiosity, and potential.
My teaching approach is inspired by a blend of Montessori and Steiner philosophies. I value providing hands-on, real-life learning experiences that build independence and practical skills, while also fostering creativity through play-based and imaginative exploration. I also embrace the importance of early exposure to STEAM learning and second language development as vital tools for the future.
I see families as a child’s first and most important teachers. Building strong, respectful partnerships with parents helps create a safe and connected learning environment, where every child feels a strong sense of belonging. My goal is to nurture children’s emotional, social, and cognitive development, supporting them in becoming confident, compassionate individuals ready for the next stage of their journey.

How far is Ancora Kids from Loganlea?

Around sixteen minutes west to Browns Plains, with parking on site.

I work shifts. Do your hours cover that?

We open at 6am and close at 6pm, Monday to Friday, which covers most day and early shifts. Overnight and weekend rosters are outside our hours, and we will tell you that plainly rather than let you find out later.

What if my child isn't toilet trained yet?

That is expected, and it is one of the things we work on with you. We keep the approach consistent between home and the room so your child is not getting two different messages, and we never set a deadline.

Loganlea has no primary school. Where will my child go?

Local children most often attend Waterford West State School or Kingston State School. Our kindy program prepares children for Prep entry rather than a single school’s routine.

What will the gap fee be?

After the Child Care Subsidy, the daily gap fee is usually somewhere between $15 and $50, depending on the percentage and hours Centrelink has approved.

We speak another language at home. Is that supported?

Yes. Children keeping their home language is something we encourage, not something we work around. Share the words and songs that matter to your family and educators will use them.

Can my child start part-time while I return to work gradually?

Yes, and it is often the better way in. Two days can become three or four as your roster builds, subject to availability.

Is there parking available at the centre?

Yes, we provide on-site parking so drop-off and pick-up is quick and easy.

When can I tour?

Any weekday during opening hours. If you are coming off a night shift, tell us and we will find a time that suits.
