The Year Before Prep Is the One That Counts

Our school-readiness program is not a worksheet folder handed over in December. Across the kindy year children build the things Prep teachers actually look for: sitting through group time, following a multi-step instruction, recognising their name and early letters, counting and comparing, managing their own hat, lunch and belongings, and asking an adult for help when they need it. It is taught through play, and it is documented, so you can see where your child is up to.

Regents Park families join us from 15 months, and many stay right through to that final year.

A Five-Minute Run, and Easy Parking

The centre sits at 5 Trebeck Street in Browns Plains, about five minutes from Regents Park. Rooms are grouped by age, each opening onto shaded outdoor areas, so children move between inside and out through the day. We are open 6am to 6pm, and parking is on site.

Social Focus

The social part of our program is based on our philosophy of fostering empathy, compassion and grit in kids. Our centre is a secure, caring environment where children build confidence and discover a joy for learning.

Health & wellbeing

We use play, song and stories to develop essential skills and teach children about health, hygiene and self-care. This includes choosing and making healthy meals, bathing, dressing, hair care, toileting and toothbrushing.

Community

We build a sense of community by fostering friendships, providing support to families, and through family involvement. The kids engage with the community through local schools, aged-care centres and other activities.

Growth

Our centre helps children grow their kindness, empathy and emotional awareness and regulation. They gain real-life, hands-on experience, physical development such as balance and motor skills.

Sustainability

Young people play an important role in caring for the environment. Our vegetable garden teaches children about food cycles and choices, and marked bins help them learn about sustainable waste management.

Ms. Liesl – Centre Director

I am Liesl, the current director at Ancora Kids Browns Plains. I have been working in the centre for 5 years. My qualifications include: Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care

As director at Ancora Kids, I am passionate about creating holistic, nurturing environments where children feel empowered to explore, grow, and thrive. At the heart of our philosophy are the values of Empathy, Compassion, and GRIT—Growth, Resilience, Integrity, and Tenacity. I believe that when children are supported with love, respect, and opportunity, they demonstrate remarkable resilience, curiosity, and potential.
My teaching approach is inspired by a blend of Montessori and Steiner philosophies. I value providing hands-on, real-life learning experiences that build independence and practical skills, while also fostering creativity through play-based and imaginative exploration. I also embrace the importance of early exposure to STEAM learning and second language development as vital tools for the future.
I see families as a child’s first and most important teachers. Building strong, respectful partnerships with parents helps create a safe and connected learning environment, where every child feels a strong sense of belonging. My goal is to nurture children’s emotional, social, and cognitive development, supporting them in becoming confident, compassionate individuals ready for the next stage of their journey.

Choosing a daycare near Regents Park is an important decision. Below are answers to some common questions parents ask:

Fees, Child Care Subsidy and attendance

How far away are you?

About five minutes, roughly 3km, with parking on site.

What exactly is in the school-readiness program?

Early literacy and numeracy, group time, following instructions, self-help skills, social problem-solving and the classroom routines children meet on day one of Prep. It runs through the whole kindy year rather than being crammed into the last term.

Does it line up with Yugumbir and Regents Park State School?

It targets the capabilities those schools expect at Prep entry rather than one school’s specific routine, and with your permission we can share a transition summary with your child’s school.

Our older child is at St Bernardine's. Can the younger one still start with you?

Yes. Plenty of our families have one child already at school and one still with us. Tell us your pick-up timings when you enquire and we will check whether the days line up.

What will we pay per day?

Between $15 and $50 for most families after the Child Care Subsidy, depending on your CCS percentage and approved hours from Centrelink.

What are the hours?

6am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.

What if my child isn't toilet trained yet?

That is normal and expected. We work with you rather than setting a deadline, and we keep the approach consistent between home and the room so your child is not getting two different messages.

Is there parking available at the centre?

Yes, we provide on-site parking so drop-off and pick-up is quick and easy.

How do I know a place will be available when I need it?

Enquire with your preferred start date and days, and we will tell you what is genuinely available rather than putting you on an open-ended list.

Do parents send their children to Ancora Kids from surrounding suburbs?

Yes, we have many families who travel to our Browns Plains centre from across the wider Logan area.
